• Windows on ARMMicrosoft and Qualcomm announced Windows 10 on ARM in late 2016, with the two companies promising new devices developed with this emulation technology to see daylight this year. And now Qualcomm’s CEO Steve Mollenkopf has revealed that the first PCs running Windows 10 on ARM chips are projected to launch in the fourth quarter.

  • Windows on ARMThe Windows 10 Creators Update brought plenty of improvements for consumers and enterprises, but there are lot of new features for developers as well. And one of them is support for Cortana on the Raspberry Pi 3.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft and Qualcomm announced in late 2016 one of the most ambitious projects since the release of Windows 10: the full version of the desktop operating system on ARM processors, with the Snapdragon 835 said to be the first chip to bring this to production.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft announced in late 2016 that the full Windows 10 would be able to run on ARM chips thanks to a new emulation system, explaining that Qualcomm would be one of the companies involved in the project, with its chipsets specifically developed to take advantage of this idea.

  • Windows on ARMIf Windows RT was known for one thing, it was for being locked to the Windows Store for all your apps and games. This in turn essentially killed Windows RT right out of the gate, as the Windows Store was lacking in apps from top developers.

  • Windows on ARMWindows 10 Cloud is a new edition of Windows 10 that showed up for the first time in one of the recent Insider Builds released for the operating system.

  • Windows on ARMAlthough Qualcomm is the only ARM licensee to strike a deal with Microsoft to allow legacy Windows 10 apps to run on its processors, ARM executives say there are no legal limitations preventing others from doing so as well.

  • Windows on ARMQualcomm announced the all-new Snapdragon 835 processor at CES in Las Vegas, and the company confirmed one of the most anticipated technologies of the year: the new chip can run the full version of Windows 10.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft announced recently that it plans on bringing the full version of Windows 10 on ARM processors, and the company even demonstrated such an early implementation on a Snapdragon 820 (this chip is already available on some Windows 10 Mobile devices, such as the Alcatel IDOL 4S and the HP Elite X3).

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft recently announced that starting next year, full Windows 10 would run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, as it’s working on bringing the operating system on ARM chips and offer the full experience on a wider array of devices.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft is bringing Windows 10 desktop to ARM. This is not Windows RT; it's full Windows 10, plus an emulation layer allowing Win32 apps to work on 64-bit ARM.

  • PuTTY for Windows RTMicrosoft announced last week that future Qualcomm ARM processors would be able to run the full version of Windows 10, showing a demo of Photoshop running on a Snapdragon 820 processor that’s already available on a number of devices out there.

  • Windows on ARMThis week, Microsoft announced a new initiative with Qualcomm aimed at bringing full 32-bit Win32 compatibility to ARM devices running Windows 10 in 2017. It’s a significant change from the company’s previous ARM strategy, and it could finally clear the way for the kind of cross-platform compatibility that Microsoft promised (but didn’t actually deliver) when it launched Windows RT back in 2012.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) dropped a bit of a bombshell a few days ago. The company announced it was partnering with Qualcomm, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) to bring Windows 10 to devices running chips based on ARM Holdings processors. Yesterday, MSFT showed off Windows PC applications running on a QCOM Snapdragon CPU. Windows on ARM is no Windows RT and it’s about to make 2017 a very interesting year.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft can be surprising at times. After ditching Windows RT, the software giant has announced that it is working with Qualcomm to bring ARM support to Windows 10. In practice, that means that we will see Snapdragon-powered machines running Microsoft's latest operating system which, and this is key, can run proper x86 software.

  • Windows on ARMLast month, details emerged of Microsoft's plans to bring emulation for x86 apps to Windows 10 Mobile smartphones. Those efforts were rumored to debut in Microsoft's 'Redstone 3' update in late 2017, and were said to be in development under the codename 'Cobalt'.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft is planning to enable x86 on ARM64 emulation in Windows 10 by Fall 2017 with its 'Redstone 3' release, sources say, thanks to codename 'Cobalt.'- Since January 2016 (and maybe before), there's been talk that Microsoft was working on bringing x86 emulation to ARM processors. Sources of mine are now saying that this capability is coming to Windows 10, though not until "Redstone 3" in the Fall of 2017.

  • Windows on ARMMicrosoft has announced that Windows 10 IoT Core is now available with the Anniversary Update, which brings a long list of improvements, new features, and support for more devices and apps.

  • Windows on ARMWhen Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would be available as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 devices, owners of those devices running Windows RT were understandably frustrated by the news that they would not be offered an upgrade path to the new OS. Instead, the company released Windows RT 8.1 Update 3 in September, adding a Windows 10-style Start menu for those devices, but little else.

  • Windows on ARMIt would appear that the rumors of Windows RT's demise have been greatly exaggerated. The dead OS is showing signs of life as Windows 10 RT. Windows RT, announced and released in 2012, was designed to bring Windows to ARM based processors. User adoption was extremely low, as the OS looked exactly like Windows 8; however, it was only able to run apps that were available in the Store, as well as Office RT, which came preinstalled.
